# Partner Integration Specification

## Candescent Marketplace — Refer a Friend

### 1. Partner Overview

| Field | Details |
| --------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Partner Contact** | [hello@nuevesolutions.com](mailto:hello@nuevesolutions.com) |
| **Product Status** | Generally Available — live across multiple financial institutions |
| **Interested Institutions** | Old National Bank, Bluepeak Credit Union, Bay Federal Credit Union |

**About the Product**

Refer a Friend is a fully automated referral program that helps financial institutions grow membership by turning existing account holders into advocates.

Inviters share a personal referral link or code through email, text, or social media. When an acceptor joins and completes the qualifying activity, the system automatically tracks their progress and distributes rewards to both parties — no manual follow-up or staff involvement required.

***

### 2. User Journey

**Who starts the flow?**
The inviter, after logging into Candescent digital banking.

**Step-by-step experience:**

1. Member logs in and sees the Refer a Friend widget on their dashboard
2. They view the offer details and how many referrals they've made so far
3. They share their personal referral code via email, SMS, or social media
4. The acceptor signs up and enters the referral code at their first login
5. Both parties track progress inside digital banking as eligibility criteria are completed
6. Rewards are automatically distributed once all conditions are met — no action required from staff

**What happens when something goes wrong:**

* If a referral code is invalid or already used, the member sees a clear message explaining why and how to proceed
* If a reward cannot be processed right away, the system retries automatically each day and flags it for admin review
* If the campaign or submission window has closed, the member sees an appropriate message
* No reward is ever issued until all qualifying criteria are fully confirmed

### 3. Integration Overview

**How it fits into Candescent**

The program is delivered as an embedded widget inside the Candescent digital banking experience. Members never leave the app. On mobile, it integrates with the native share sheet for seamless referral sharing.

**What data the integration uses:**

| Data | Purpose |
| --------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Member identity | Identify who is sharing or submitting a referral code |
| Linked accounts | Verify the acceptor has the right account type |
| Account activity | Confirm qualifying transactions (direct deposits, debit purchases) |
| FI terms & conditions | Display program rules before the acceptor submits their code |

**How data flows:**
Member-initiated actions (submitting a code, sharing, checking status) are handled in real time. Eligibility checks and reward processing run on a scheduled daily basis.

| --------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **How members are authenticated** | The widget runs inside the member's existing Candescent session — no separate login required |
| **Single Sign-On (SSO)** | Not required |
| **Per-user setup** | Not required — the FI configures the campaign once, and all eligible members can participate automatically |
| **Session management** | Fully managed by Candescent — the widget respects the existing session timeout and re-authentication flow |

### 6. Onboarding Requirements

FI-level setup is required before the program goes live. This involves:

* Choosing the campaign type (member referral or FI-sponsored promotion)
* Setting qualifying activity rules (e.g., direct deposit amount, number of debit purchases)
* Configuring reward amounts for the inviter and/or acceptor
* Customizing messaging and program disclosures for the institution
* Designating the account from which rewards will be paid

No per-member setup is needed. Once the campaign is configured, all eligible members can participate immediately.
