How It Works
- Choose the rule. Pick the traits that describe who should see the ad, such as “saves with us, but has no CD.”
- Automate Banking flags matching users. On a schedule, users who match are marked with a custom trait, such as “CD prospect.”
- Marketing builds the audience once. In Q2 SMART, your team creates an audience from that flag and attaches the ad.
- The audience stays up to date. Every run adds new users who qualify. A second automation can remove the flag once a user has acted, so the ad stops showing.

Good to Know
- Stop the ad after a conversion. Pair each campaign with a second automation that removes the flag once the user has the product. For example, remove “CD prospect” from users who now hold a CD.
- Combine traits. For example, show the mortgage ad only to Spanish-speaking users who are close to their home goal.
- Custom traits are set up for your institution. Automate Banking writes to custom traits only — the traits Q2 calculates cannot be changed. See the Q2 SMART Overview.
- Availability varies. Not every trait is enabled at every institution. Your Q2 Customer Experience Manager can confirm which ones you have.
- Learn more. See Supported Traits for the full list, or Push Notification Use Cases to reach users on their phones.
